Why doesn't Thunder Technologies have hose assemblies all made up and sitting on the shelf?
Hose assemblies are not commodity items. Since each hose assembly's size, fittings, and add-ons are unique to your needs, all hose
assemblies are ustom made to your critical specifications.
How do I know what the correct hose is for my application?
Thunder Technologies uses a system called STAMPED to help select the correct hose for-specific types of applications. The term
"STAMPED" is an acronym for the parameters used-to recommend a hose. The parameters include:
· Size (Inside Diameter)
· Temperatures (maximum and minimum temperatures of material being transferred)
· Application (industry or process, environmental factors)
· Material (being transported)
· Pressure (maximum working)
· End (type of end connectors on hose)
· Delivery method
We don't expect you to figure out the best hose for your needs. That is our job. Tell us the STAMPED
information about your hose requirements, and let our friendly, knowledgeable experts help you!
What is the difference between a metal hose and a PTFE hose? They look the same?
Metal hoses and PTFE hoses can look alike if they both have metal braiding on the outer cover. The key is to look at the inner liner. A
PTFE hose has a plastic-looking liner. Metal hoses have metal liners. Metal hoses and PTFE hoses have different performance
characteristics, such as temperature ratings, pressure ratings, whether it will effuse gasses, etc.-Sometimes they look the same on the
outside, but Metal hoses and PTFE hoses are totally different animals. Call us. We will guide you.
The conditions that I am using my hose are at the highest pressure rating and the highest temperatue rating. Is that ok?
No. There is a relationship between hose pressure and hose temperature that affects the safety of the hose. Although there is a safety
factor, manufacturers do not recommend that you operate your hose at these conditions. You should look at a hose that has higher
temperature and pressure ratings. Call us, we can help.
Why should I inspect my hose assemblies?
Hose assemblies do not last forever. Many reasons could cause wear in the hose assembly. On-a regular basis, --the hose assembly
should be visibly inspected for any wear or damage, and the hose assembly should be pressure-tested for leaks. The time between
inspections depends on-the application of the hose assembly. Thunder Technologies can come to your facility and perform a
hose-inspection survey on your hose assemblies.
How can I extend the life of my hose assemlby?
The life expendency of your hose assembly depends on many factors. It is important to remember that a hose is just a hose. It will not last
forever. If you feel your hose is not lasting long enough, you may be using the wrong hose. To make sure you are using the right hose for
your needs, give us a call and discuss your options. Environmental factors, such as abraision of the hose outer cover or excessive
environmental heat can be addressed using hose protective covers. If your hose bends repeatedly near the end fitting, a spring guard could
be applied to the hose at the hose fitting to avoid the hose from kinking where the hose meets the fitting. Draining your hose when not in use
is essential, especially steam hoses. Please call us for more ideas to help extend your hose life.
